don’t be denying me my coffee
To whom it may concern:
I love Starbucks Coffee. So you can imagine my delight when a free standing one finally opened up in [my town], Colorado. That was, until one of the Starbucks employees refused to make my drink, a decaf, skim, iced latte, blended. Apparently it’s against Starbucks policy’s to blend a latte. (Although, I know it’s possible because my first trip through the drive through at this new Starbucks location got me a decaf, skim, iced latte, blended. Apparently the girl was “new” and didn’t know she was breaking company policy. There was even a free add-on on my receipt that said, “double blended.”)
What I’m writing today is to ask that you reverse those policies. In my consumer mind, I see no reason why an iced latte cannot be dumped in the blender and blended? I also wonder why Starbucks would refuse to make my drink? Doesn’t the customer come first? What options are there for blended drinks for those who don’t like or can’t have sweet drinks? Doesn’t Starbucks want all it’s patrons to be happy with their coffee? I hope so.
I sincerely hope that you take my plea into consideration. It’s getting hot here in the desert and I plan on drinking a lot of iced, blended lattes this summer. I just hope that they can be from Starbucks.
Sincerely,
Allison Blevins

You MUST let us all know what they say! We have friends who are in marketing for Tazo Teas (part of Starbucks) and I would sincerely hope they would do the “customer is always right” thing like they should!

Keep trying… some Starbucks won’t make my Frappachino’s decaf (which is a bunch of bunk) but I found certain ones that will and continue to go there. And then I just ask each time at the ones that won’t in hopes they will not know (hee hee).

Wow. I thought Starbucks was all about coffee and you get it how you want it. I can’t imagine them saying “no” to anyone!

I can’t relate to the coffee part, because I hate coffee in all of its many forms. However, as a customer service issue….bravo for telling them your issue. Sometimes that can have surprising results (such as free coupons in the mail).

Wow – I am so suprised they refused to make your drink. They usually bend over backwards to make their customers happy. I’m interested to hear their response. I wonder if the person who said no was just a punky kid…. did you speak to a higher authority?

Ummm, they are dead wrong. Starbucks’ policy is “just say yes”. I’m a manager for SB & I guarantee you they should have done that for you. I just blended an iced grande soy mocha for a customer yesterday.

Wow. I feel like I should punch the air and yell “You go girl!” or something like that. :-) Well done. Your letter was just the right mix of polite and don’t mess with me.

it kills me that they have to make a hot latte/cap and pour it over ice. if i ever go back (and i doubt it) i will make them make it the right way (pour espresso and milk over ice)

[…] •And of course, the guilty pleasure that I indulge in most frequently: Starbucks. I love me a decaf americano with half and half and whipped cream in the the winter. Summertime you’ll find me sipping a blended decaf nonfat iced latte with whipped cream. […]
