ouch
I woke up this morning with one of the worst migraines that I’ve had in 5 years. I took my Imitrex but it did nothing for me. Could it be because it expired in 2003? I finally broke down, called the doctor and got a prescription called in. You’ll never guess how much just ONE of those boogers costs. TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS. For one pill. Of course this happened on a day when I had tons to do, a new cute outfit to wear and some new yarn to order. Not to mention I missed some cool people at the store today.
Freakin migraines….
wondering
Is it worth the extra $6 a week to upgrade from a case of aquafina to a case of smart water? I really love smart water.
(PS sorry for my absenteeism, I’ve had lots of thought floating around but haven’t been able to corral them into something legible.)
(PPS congrats to one of my best friends, Sarah on the discovery that her #3 baby is going to be a girl!)
(PPPS I spelled absenteeism right the first time, congratulate me!!!)

hipster pda
I have a meeting with the Skacel rep Feb 21st. How am I going to remember that? It’s like, what? 12 days from now. I can’t remember what I’m supposed to do tomorrow. um… wait.. make a birthday cake for Eden, I knew there was something.
So I think I’m needing a planner. Just something small that I can write down things I schedule, things that I cannot forget to do. You know, stuff like put gas in the car and go to Target and meet with the skacel rep. Really important things.
I was directed to this website: DIY Planner. And from there I was reminded of the Hipster pda. I sort of like this idea of the hipster pda, sort of a tongue-in-cheek spoof that sounds really good to me. I need to write things down to remember them and if I had to take the 20 minutes it would take for me to tap in each letter with a little stylus, I would never accomplish anything.
I’m still gathering together ideas, but the wealth of pictures at flickr have been a good start for me. I’m thinking that I need something a little more organized than just a binder clip… hmm… I’ll add what I find here.
edit:
I’m checking this out: pocket mod
Or maybe I just want to be lazy and get this: moleskine pocket planner.
edit again: It seems that it’s the most offensive thing to go into a book store and ask if they have a planner. It’s FEBRUARY, they say. Yeah, it’s only February, I say. Asking for a planner in February is deeply offensive to their booky bookness. What happens if you decide you don’t like the planner you have in say MARCH? What if(!) your planner gets stolen in June, then what are you going to do? It seems reasonable to me that since I just decided I needed a planner at the beginning of February, not knowing I would decide this in early January, I should be able to find a planner somewhere. I guess I’ll have to order it online…
But I did find this great pre-fab hipster pda at Target by real simple. sigh.
If my site happens to go down (or Tangle too) don’t be alarmed, we’re just moving servers.

conversations
“Honor you’re a cool boy.”
“You’re a cool dirl mommy. Eden’s a cool dirl too.”
“No I’m not cool, I’m pretty.”
excuses
I have so much to write about and no time! My time has been consumed with Tangle’s website and I’m happy to report after hours and hours of editing, shooting photos (still a work in progress), checking fiber content, etc.., that almost all the yarn I have in stock is up on the website. All the remaining product is forthcoming too! I can’t even begin to describe the amount of work, I’m just glad it’s almost done!
I have so much more to write about: my year in review, my improved mental health, changes we’re making in our lives, Eden’s Bible scholarly ways, a few finished knit projects… So until I find a spare moment, tell me about something great going on in your life?
the big rock snowy mountains
We live in Colorado. Colorado! You know, Rocky Mountains, Colorado? Wouldn’t it make sense that if people live in Colorado they might want to participate in winter activities on a regular basis? It makes sense to me. Nevertheless, when we decided to go sledding, it didn’t help us find sleds, or waterproof mittens for little kids or snow pants for mommy. In December. (Pssst, Target, really, it’s Colorado here, come on! And while we’re talking, did you forget that Toys R Us left town? I’m thinking so. I expect more from you, you know.)
We took the kids on their first ever sledding trip last Sunday. Eden, especially, loved it and even went by herself a couple times. Honor didn’t mind it too much once he figured out that the cold snow wouldn’t kill him. Yes, Honor, when you stick your bare hands right into a big snow drift, it may be a little cold. Just a thought, but I promise you’re not going to die.
And a few photos I snapped as we were packing up to leave:
su-gar!!!
It just occurred to me that it’s candy making season! I love candy. I’ve been so busy with the store that it’s finally sinking in: it’s December, there’s snow on the ground and Hanukkah starts in 10 days.
And it also just occurred to me how much I LOVE pecan brittle. I always forget about this, so when December rolls around it’s like I’m falling in love with it all over again.
Every year my mom promises me we’ll make Divinity and rarely do we end up doing it. I’m making Divinity this year, damnit! I don’t care if I have to ruin make it myself. (For some reason, Divinity is my one candy-making mental block.)
What candy will you make? What candy do you wish someone else would make for you?
I’ll leave you with the link to my pecan brittle recipe and some pictures of Eden looking at the new snowfall in anticipation.
