sewing and knitting and being a little sad

February 8th, 2006 — 10:31am

I just finished putting Honor’s brace on. He cried and cried the whole time, saying “I don’t want my brace.” It was sad. When we were all done I told him he was a big boy and he said, “I not big, I widdle.”

And onto more cheerful things…

I sewed this! With a lot of help from my mom, who designed the pattern.

And I finished this modified cabled purse. I’m looking for test knitters, so let me know if you’d like to knit this! Thanks, I’ve got lots of test knitters now!

I also finished a shawl for my grandma, but this was the best picture I could get of it. The photo really doesn’t do it justice. It’s Kidsilk Haze and a Japanese yarn.

The bag and the glasses

December 16th, 2005 — 3:20pm

The felted bag. Oh, was it easy! This is the first thing I’ve ever felted. I made it for the store and the class I’m teaching. The yarn is Paint Box (color 10 I think?) and Cascade 220 held together. The pattern is from the book Pursenalities – the only cool pattern in the whole book.

Bubble Bag

And my new glasses looking at you through a silly picture. It’s strange to be able to see well. You can see that I didn’t fork out the extra 80 bucks for the anti glare coating. I’d rather spend $80 on yarn.

Sparkly clutch

November 4th, 2005 — 11:55am

I just finished this clutch from the Knit Scene Mag.

Another view

The handle is two pieces of dowel rods cut and then the bag is sewn around them.

The bag

I’m most proud of my lining, probably the best sewing job I’ve done.

The Lining

Now all I need to do is crochet a couple of flowers and find the lucite chain for the handle and it will look kinda like this.

Too bad it’s not this color…

April Showers

May 18th, 2005 — 10:23am

I finished up this bag this weekend. It ridiculously took me 5 tries, before I got it the way I wanted it. It’s handspun yarn by midnight and lulu. I worked so hard on the bag because I wanted it to “fit” the coolness of the yarn.

I need to get into some more knitting, my hands are starting to get really restless.

White Cabled Clutch

April 18th, 2005 — 11:19am

I lined the white clutch I made last week. I’m really happy with how it turned out.

I should have used white thread to sew the lining, but I was being lazy and didn’t want to change the bobbin.

Here’s the back

I threaded ribbon through the handles to keep them from stretching out too bad (my mom’s idea.) It seems to be working out great. I made this bag because I needed something that wasn’t green to go with my (few) non green clothes. I really wanted to use the green with white polka dot ribbon I found at Walmart, but that would have been defeating the purpose. I guess I’ll have to make another one. It’s really getting ridiculous how much I like green these days.

EDIT: Buy my cabled purse pattern here!
