•I got the newsletter out and it’s up on the website to download (PDF). What a relief to have that all planned and done!

•Today I put in a new order of Misti Alpaca, I’m really excited to start carrying it in the store. It’s SO amazingly soft! And the colors… ahhh…

•Tonight is the season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy. I feel silly saying how much of a Grey’s Anatomy addict I am. I’m not much of a crier, but I have to say, the season finale, I sobbed! I am a little too excited to be watching it tonight. And I can’t say how happy it made me that the girls of Grey’s were knitting!

•I’m here at the store now with one of my teachers, Guin (hi Guin!), and we’re working on figuring out the pattern for that amazing cabled bag I posted a picture of a few days back. I’ve already got a color of the misti alpaca picked out that is going to be so beautiful. So back to it…

•Over the weekend Honor got his prize for not having a potty accident a whole week straight. We went to Chuck E Cheese’s and paid $20 for a blue spider ring and a pot of lip gloss. The kids had a great time and I think Jim and I had an even better time. I think that we both thought we would never go to Chuck E Cheese’s because he would never be potty trained. And, trust me, it was well worth the $20. Now we just have to get him to the point of not expecting candy every time he goes.

•I whipped up these mittens for Eden on Saturday. The would have been a really quick knit if I would have paid attention when I was shaping the thumb gusset. Instead, I had to rip them all the way back to the gusset and start over. Oh, well, they’re cute.

Pattern: My own
Needles: Addi turbos size 9 – magic looped them two at a time
Yarn: Dive Tesseo – about half a ball.

•Today was the first day of my birthday week. This is what I woke up to.

my present for day one of my birthday week

Sweet Jim.

•I’ve been sitting here for awhile trying to come up with words for my thoughts about today, September 11. I try to refrain from stating my political views on this website so I’ll just paraphrase what I read today on the front page of our local newspaper.

“We have suffered a extraordinary loss and we have given up many, many sacred rights. And we’re still not safe.”

Maybe some day we will be.

• Honor made it through the night last night wearing real underwear. it’s like 36 hours and counting…

• I started my first pair of toe up socks. I used Joelenes Turkish cast on tutorial, which was brilliant, of course! The toes are Louet Pearl and the body of the sock will be Yarn Pirate, both of which I carry in the store. I’m trying to get two pairs out of one skein of Yarn Pirate, which seems totally doable. I have to say, Yarn Pirate is my most favorite sock yarn so far.

• I’m also working on a Cabled Purse, seeing if a different yarn will work well. A Noni felted bag that I’m knitting with my friend Brooke. (Do your homework Brooke!) And a pair of worsted weight socks for store models. (Since Honor cut the other ones up.) Oh yeah, and my Hourglass sweater out of the amazing Malabrigo. Oh, how I love Malabrigo. It is just flying out of the store, I’m planning on reordering this week. wow!

Well, I guess that was more about knitting than randomness, but well… that’s the best I’ve got!

grace, like rain, falls down on me

July 17th, 2006 — 10:33am

My kids in opposite world: Honor looking sweet and Eden looking grumpy.

the biggest grump

Honor has been SO difficult lately, Good LORD, difficult. I’m not exactly sure what to do with him. But I just keep thinking, some day he’s GOT to grow out of this… I hope? He is cute tho… I’m really worried about the one day a week he will be down at the shop with me.

Eden on the other hand has been really easy and so hilarious. She’s been throwing her daddy’s jokes right back at him, it’s been really funny to see the two of them go at it. Sometimes I wonder how my four year old is more mature than I am?

Yesterday we were all sitting down for dinner when we heard a big crash in our back yard. Jim got up to check it out and I was sure that it had something to do with the dog. Jim hasn’t been a big fan of the dog lately, and if you took a look at our back yard, you’d know why. Hopefully the dog (and the yard) will survive the rest of the summer.

Luckily for the dog, it wasn’t him. The neighbors gigantic dead tree just fell over. No wind or anything, it just fell down. It totally missed everything, there were three possible houses it could have hit (including ours) and one possible car, and it just hit the ground. That, that’s Grace right there.

•Today Tucky Puppy went to the vet for his last round of shots. He’s gained 5 lbs. in one month. I’m going to have a BIG beagle.

•Starbucks emailed me Friday afternoon. They confirmed what Carole told me, their policy is “Just say yes.” The lady who emailed me told me that she was going to make sure that the store knew there was no anti-blended latte policy. AND she’s sending me coupons.

•I’m blogging in the car, waiting for Jim to come down from the office. Ahhh, wireless internet, how I love thee.

According to calorie-count.com, knitting burns 125 calories per hour.

• I’m working on a baby sweater pattern for the store, so I’ve been checking out other baby sweaters. Isn’t this one cute?

•This morning I told Eden that she was going over to her friends house to play and I asked her, “Is (name) your buddy?” and she said, “No, buddies are the soap on TV. I want the pink one and Honor should have the yellow one.”

• I’m having a large amount of regret for taking expired Sudafed, it’s only moderately working and I can’t take more for 3 more hours. My ears are so stuffy I can’t really hear.

• Jim and I are having a debate on who we think the hottest Friend is. He thinks Phoebe and I think Rachel. Who do you think?

•Last weekend I taught two of my best friends to knit. That was very exciting for me!

•I just finished felting a very cool bag – pics to come later.

•The menu is up this week. That’s because I finally went grocery shopping. We were down to a can of tuna and some beans.

•It’s actually supposed to snow today. It hasn’t snowed yet and Eden is so excited at the prospect of making a “snow bird.” The sad thing about living in Western Colorado is that even if it does snow, it generally won’t last more than 24 hours.

•Tomorrow or the next day I am forcing my mom to help me make divinity. It’s my most favorite candy, and I am always bugging her to make it. Mmmmm… just thinking about it makes want some SO bad!

•Today or tomorrow I get to pick up my new glasses, which I am very excited about. Honor broke my old pair, but I’ve still had to wear them to drive at night. High class I tell you!

• Yesterday Honor put a (peeled) banana in his pocket and came up to me and said, “My. Pocket. Mom, clean it?”

• I finished this bag last week. I got some random person on the street to model it for me.

Cabled Bag

• My step-mother-inlaw’s CD was submitted for a grammy nomination. How cool is that?

• This weekend we’re moving back into our old office, the one I love. I am very happy about this.
