So yesterday, while I was chatting with Joelene, Honor found our address stamp and got the ink cartridge out. He had ink everywhere, including the playroom carpet. This is after a good scrubbing.
His hands (and the carpet) are still blue. His lips, not so much. As always, he’s so proud of his destruction.
Today I’m following him around and not letting him out of my sight. I’m taking a risk right now because I can’t see the couch where he’s watching Dora. I’d better go…

Because we’re gluttons for punishment, the walls of Honors crib didn’t go back up until last night. I admit, Jim’s got more determination that I do. He dealt with nap and bed times all weekend. I can’t even count the MANY, many times that Honor got up and got in trouble. Finally, by last night, Jim had had it. He stormed into the kids room, turned the light on and started to screw the crib back together.
Who would have known that the best punishment of all would be to make Honor sleep in a crib? He was heart broken, he just sat there and cried with the most pathetic look ever. Jim is still braver than I, he thinks that in a few days Honor will be able to sleep without the walls again. I, on the other hand, think that he can sleep in the crib for the rest of his life and I’m considering Joelene’s idea to cover the top with chicken wire.
And congratulations to my friend Jill who just found out that she’s pregnant with her third!

So we (actually JIM) did the dumbest thing this weekend. He took the side off Honors crib and lowered the mattress all the way down. Yeah, I told you it was dumb. I think Jim had a momentary lapse in judgment when he saw Honor crawl into Edens toddler bed and look up at him with pleading eyes. Honor is a whole year older than Eden was when she moved to a toddler bed. But. There’s a reason. The boy is uncontrollable. He’s a squirmy ball of energy that NEVER. STOPS. EVER.
My very last option of containment is now gone. Wanna guess how many times he got up (and got in trouble) from his nap yesterday? SEVEN… or was it eight? He’s gotten up so many times in the last 36 hours that they’re all blending together. He of course thinks it’s the greatest thing EVAR!! He can get up, he can crawl in bed with Eden and lay on her head. He can get a toy, he can open up the wipe box and take EVERY SINGLE ONE out and lay them on his bed, he can go running through the house and back as fast as he can in hopes that we don’t catch him before he gets back into his bed. Yes, this is just a sample of the last 36 hours of bed and nap times (which, by the way, is only one nap time and two bed times.)
I wonder how long he would stay up if I let him? That is an experiment for someone like a grandparent who likes him much more than I do and would be less likely to duct tape him to the wall out of sheer desperation.

Eden is watching blues clues and Honor just woke up. I just poured him some orange juice and stuck a waffle in the toaster for him. I love the way he gets so excited over his morning waffle. “Up! Up! Up!” he says until I pick him up so he can watch the toaster. We stand there while he says, “Hot, hot” until the waffle pops up. Every single time, he jumps in my arms. Even though he’s expecting it, it still scares him. A split second later, he erupts in excited laughter reaching for, “HOT, HOT, HOT.” I never knew a waffle could be so exciting.

Honor told me yesterday that he was going poop, so I rushed him to the bathroom, pulled off his diaper and sat him on the toilet. We arrived just in time for the poop to plop into the toilet. And, after many congratulations, he was done. He hopped off and I wiped him. I flushed the toilet and as the poop swirled around the toilet, we waved bye bye to it. And in true Honor fashion, he air kissed the poop good bye. “Bye poo poo, mwah!”

So, I’m in trouble. Honor didn’t take a nap yesterday. He’s been fighting nap time more and more lately. This scares me because I need nap time!!! What scares me more is that he figured out how to climb out of his crib. We were all outside yesterday and he just showed up on the deck. We were being lazy and didn’t want to get up, so we just let him stay up.
He must have been tired though, because after dinner he dragged Eden’s pillow and blanket outside. Rather than rescuing her blanket from the dirt, I took pictures. (I blame this on all of you because you’d rather me take pictures of him in the toilet instead of rescue him!) But, hey, what’s one more piece of laundry anyway?
And here’s Eden with the kitty.

Just yesterday I was thinking that I haven’t added anything new to the the “Things I’ve fished out of the Toilet” list. Doesn’t it seem that whenever you think something like that, it has to prove you wrong? Like whenever I think, “Wow, Jim and I have been getting along so well, it’s been forever since we’ve been in an argument.” Then he goes and throws away the Mervyns bag containing two brand new bras totaling over $50.00. Not only does he do this, he does it on trash day. (Don’t get me started on the things he’s thrown away.)
Well, the same happened with Honor. Just as I was marveling that his toilet fascination had come to an end, I had the wonderful opportunity to fish yet another thing out of the toilet. This may top the all time funniest thing I’ve fished out of the toilet, which by consensus is the Waffle.
Thing no.#786 that I’ve fished out of the toilet.
HONOR
and feet first I may add.

Eden is so freaking hilarious. It’s amazing how much she loves her little brother. My mom always said how much my little sister and I loved each other when we were little. I never believed her because we were enemies when we got older (we get along now). But I can see now how that could be.
[pause to go get Honor more milk in his bottle, the little addict! He says, “some muk, some muk”]
Eden is such a mirror of phrases we use. I guess we call Honor, “little buddy” frequently, because she always calls him “wittle buddy.” They’re playing together really well now. Eden always asks him, “Honor want to go outside and play? Would that be fun?” He shakes his head and says “side, side, side.”
But what I hear all day long is, “Mommieeee, mommieeee, mommieeee.” or “mine, mine, mine, mine.” Over and over again. Someone tell me why I wanted him to talk?

…without another Honor related medical incident. Look at his poor eye!
He was playing outside and got something in it. Jim was on duty, so that’s all the details I have. We rinsed it out and gave him some benadryl. The nurse at the doctors office said that all we can do now is just wait for it to go down. Poor kiddo.
Totally unrelated, he came to us the other day like this.
(it’s strawberry applesauce) Being the responsible house keeper that I am, I took a picture rather than save my carpet from strawberry doom.
I know you are all SO shocked that he could make a mess.
