Just in case anyone is interested, no pressure.
The Foxy Socks Club members receive the following over a 3 month period:

• A different yarn each month, enough to make a pair of socks. This yarn could be the following:
-hand dyed superwash wool
-self patterning superwash wool/nylon
-solid superwash
-self striping superwash wool/nylon
-cotton with elastic
-…? the possibilities are endless, all yarn will be machine washable.

• A punch card for sock patterns. Every 4th sock pattern bought will be free.
• 10% discount on sock needles (any brand, sizes 0-3)
• Monthly sock club meetings (3rd Saturday of every month from 2pm – 4pm.)
What about color choices?
Upon registration you may list the colors you love and hate. We will try our best to accommodate this, but part of the experience of the sock club is the surprise of getting an unexpected yarn. If other color choices are available, members may exchange odor-free yarn in it’s original packaging for a different color choice in the same brand. Exchanges will be for color only, not for a different yarn. Members will be responsible for any additional shipping costs that an exchange by mail will incur.
Pricing (all membership pricing is non-refundable)
• In-Store Pick Up: $50.00 for 3 months
• By Mail: $60.00 for 3 months
When do I get my yarn?
Yarn will be ready for pickup the first day of every month and can be picked up during our regular store hours.
Mail order yarn will be mailed out within the first five days of every month via USPS First Class Mail.

Things have been going really well at the yarn store. Even with it doing well, there still have been long stretches of time where it was slow. I don’t mind this because it gives me time to knit, work on the books or corral the children. (The kids did great on Friday, by the way, probably mostly because it was fairly slow until Jim picked them up at 3 and I was able to devote most of my attention to them.)
I’ve been surprised at what has sold the most… the one and only novelty yarn that I bought. It’s a nice novelty yarn (GGH Esprit), very fluffy and soft and I bought it to make baby blankets. I just find it’s sales funny because every yarn rep I’ve talked to has told me that Novelty is OUT. I guess it’s not THAT out.
A couple days after the lovely Malabrigo came in, I also got a shipment of some beautiful hand dyed yarn, very similar to Colinette’s Point Five. The colors are perfect and this will work perfect for the every popular two hour hat. Today Be Sweet should arrive and because the store is closed on Monday, I will be obsessively driving past the store from the hours of 10 and 4 to see if the UPS man left me a package.
Several people have been asking about the online store. It’s coming along… S L O W L Y. Jim is just so busy at work that I’m thinking of hiring someone else to build me a website! Although I’m not sure I can bring myself to pay someone else. In the meantime, I can do mail order if there is anything anyone wants.
Now, I’m going to go enjoy my day off by doing things like laundry, dishes and grocery shopping.

Well, we’re on day 3 of the yarn store and things are going fabulous! I’m having a wonderful time. Yesterday, I got a big shipment of Malabrigo in and, wowie, it is SO amazing. Seriously, I’m in LOVE. Like, I almost packed up the box and took it home to keep to myself, in love.

So it turns out that I did remember to bring the camera home, it was sitting in the living room the whole time. Yes, I am losing it that much…
But! Here are my before pictures of the shop, it looks so different from these photos already! I think all I have is one more day of painting left and then I can start transporting all this yarn to the shop.
Click any photo to see it bigger.
Walking in the door.
The main room. The big table goes here.
The east room. We painted over the mint walls.
Walking into the kitchen. We painted over these walls too.
View from the dining area of the kitchen. The kids area will be the dining area.
The west room, full of windows, this room will pretty much stay the same.

Dude, it’s so crazy around here. I spent all day yesterday painting the yarn store and will probably do the same today. I even took “before” pictures that I intended to post today, but I forgot to bring the camera home from the store. The pile has also grown a bit too and I’m expecting an order from skacel (addi turbos, baybee!) today. It’s all coming right along. Pictures tomorrow just as long as I remember to bring the camera home.

Well, yesterday I got a huge shipment in from Cascade. 164 POUNDS of yarn. I got Cascade 220 and 220 superwash, Pastaza, Fixation, Pima Tencel, Eco Wool, Teseo, Magnum…umm, I think that’s it? There were a few things that were backordered. I also got a box of needles and patterns in. The stack is growing! I think that the elliptical machine is going to have to move.

I’ll continue to post pictures of the yarn pile as it grows.
Here’s the first of it. Books and Southwest Trading Company and lamps for the store. Notice that the first thing I did with the yarn was put it in correct rainbow color order. I’m obsessive that way. Today I’m expecting more in!!

I ordered all the rest of my yarn yesterday. Holy cow, I spent a lot of money! I’m so excited for it all to be coming in! Some of it might even come in today! I ordered wool and silk and cashmere and cotton and soy silk and lots of patterns and books and needles. I even ordered the new Clover knit lites. I could have used lighted knitting needles when we were coming home from Denver.
We spent the entire weekend folding and stapling and taping and folding and folding and FOLDING my newsletter. Jim has vowed that he will never fold another newsletter again. (Um, yeah, until the newsletter comes out again in two months.) I foresee a lot of folding in my future. Click here (PDF) to view the newsletter in PDF format. I’m really happy with it.
I’ve also picked out some furniture for the store. I’m getting this sofa from Kmart of all places. Gotta love the Martha Stewart Everyday. And I’m getting this table. It’s all very exciting.
The old store closes Saturday and then I can get in and start cleaning and painting. I’m feeling really good about the timeline. Everything should be all ready to go by August 1st!! Tonight is my meeting with all the teachers and I’ve got to go pick up some yummy snacks and drinks. I figure if nothing else, I can get them to like me because I feed them well.
Everything is falling into place… it’s all seeming SO real!!
More to come…
