One Skein Wonderful

July 27th, 2005 — 8:21am

I used up my three Blingo movie tickets yesterday (can you believe I’ve won THREE?) Jim and I went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I give it a thumbs up, although it’s not for kids. It was definitely made for my generation, you know the kids who grew up with Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I gave my sister my third movie ticket in payment for watching the kiddies. Maybe I enjoyed the movie so much because it was WITHOUT kids? Could that be?

I finished two shrugs this weekend. One for my friend Sarah – her birthday was on Saturday. And one for my little grumpy pea. Just look at her, she’s SUCH a big grouch! That’s what I get when I pry her away from Dora.

And the one for my friend.

I love this thing. I think I’m going to make one in every color!

salad and yarn, what could be better?

July 20th, 2005 — 8:13am

I’ve got the page up for 100 salads, though I’m still adding recipes and may mess more with the format. They all look so yummy that I think I’m going to be eating salads for the rest of the summer! YUM!

Jim took a picture of my one skein wonder. The pic of the front didn’t turn out so well, so you’ll have to settle for a pic of the back.

I love this pattern, I want to make Eden a teeny tiny one.

Strong Will

July 8th, 2005 — 8:33am

Be thinking of salad recipes, I’ll have more next week.

I finished the One Skein Wonder last weekend. I’ll post pics of it whenever the time correlates that Jim is here to take a picture and I don’t look like a slob.

Thanks to Joelene who inspired me to knit one and for the suggestions on changing the ribbing. Joelene’s the bestest!

Things are pretty even keel here, I’m just trying to figure out how to deal with a strong willed baby. Holy cow! is he a stinker these days. I know what it’s like to want your way, but come on HONOR! you’re not even two yet! My mom always said that my sister was in payment for my uncles childhood because he didn’t have any kids. I think I’m being paid back for my sisters actions as a child. NOT FAIR! But there’s one in every family right? I think it’s Gods way of keeping things….. interesting (and by interesting I mean… INSANE).

Have a good weekend everybody, I promise that I’ll be a better blogger next week.

Stripe Generator

June 24th, 2005 — 10:11am

This is very, very cool. A stripe generator. You just select your colors and number of rows and it will generate a random pattern for you.

My first sock

June 13th, 2005 — 10:25am

I’m about to give up on ever taking a good picture ever again. Let’s all take a moment of silence for the loss of my Nikon D-70.

*sigh*

I don’t think I ever posted about my ipod(!) though. The ipod fairy felt so bad that I had to give up the camera that he dropped a silver mini in my lap! I love it so much.

So here’s my sock, in poor photo quality.

It was so, so rainy here this weekend that we weren’t able to camp or go to the circus (we even had free tickets) or walk down to the art and jazz festival or do much of anything. We did take our obligatory Friday trip to Target, though, where I continued to drool over the sushi plates and cool oval serving bowls that match my dishes perfectly. Which, because life is always like this, I’m sure, will be gone by the time I have money to purchase them.

AND strangest of all, it was cold here. It’s never cold here in June. It’s never cold here in May!! This has been the absolute strangest weather ever! The low was 45º. I had to dig out all of our winter bedding and clothing. I’m not complaining though, because Saturday night, Jim and I were able to sit out under our gazebo and drink hot chocolate by the fire while it rained. It was almost as nice as camping, especially because we got to sleep in our comfy bed!

Thanks to the weather, I was able to finish my sock and start on it’s mate. We also watched “The Forgotten”, “King Aurthur” and “Alfie”. I give them all a rating of 3.75 stars. Worth watching, but don’t expect too much, well “The Forgotten” was pretty good, I’ll give it a rating of 4 stars.

I also decided that I DO like my ring. I got a slightly better picture of it.

Some times I annoy myself with how picky I am!

Random

June 6th, 2005 — 12:48pm

*My little sister returned from a 10 day vacation in Switzerland last week. She brought me some yummy chocolate and coffee and this Oh, so cool necklace.

*Eden and I made a trip to Old Navy this weekend. They finally had in the store this shirt that I’d been wanting ever since they emailed me about it. Shhh, don’t tell them their spam email is effective.

*We also went out to the yarn store, which we found out is moving SO much closer to me!! yay! I bought some blue cotton linen to knit a tank. The pattern is out of some random knitting mag I bought on clearance for .50 cents. And I bought sock yarn! Here’s my progress thus far. (it’s a stretchy cotton)

I’m surprised to say that the size 3 needles aren’t getting to me like I thought they would.

*After the trip to the yarn store, we went to the “ice cream store” where Eden had to have “Pink ice cream, not with a spoon and not with a straw.” She settled for a cherry dipped cone.

*We also went that night to see Madagascar while Honor and Jim went to a guys Playstation/Xbox night for the youth group. Eden really liked it, she sat on the edge of her seat the whole time and kept saying cute things very loudly like, “That ‘zwebra’ is SO funny.” I thought it was OK for a cartoon, I just really hate how they’re making the humor in children’s movies a bit too “adult.”

*Eden starts her teeny tiny ballet class tomorrow. She’s peeing her pants with excitement and I’m sure there will be more about it tomorrow.

April Showers

May 18th, 2005 — 10:23am

I finished up this bag this weekend. It ridiculously took me 5 tries, before I got it the way I wanted it. It’s handspun yarn by midnight and lulu. I worked so hard on the bag because I wanted it to “fit” the coolness of the yarn.

I need to get into some more knitting, my hands are starting to get really restless.

White Cabled Clutch

April 18th, 2005 — 11:19am

I lined the white clutch I made last week. I’m really happy with how it turned out.

I should have used white thread to sew the lining, but I was being lazy and didn’t want to change the bobbin.

Here’s the back

I threaded ribbon through the handles to keep them from stretching out too bad (my mom’s idea.) It seems to be working out great. I made this bag because I needed something that wasn’t green to go with my (few) non green clothes. I really wanted to use the green with white polka dot ribbon I found at Walmart, but that would have been defeating the purpose. I guess I’ll have to make another one. It’s really getting ridiculous how much I like green these days.

EDIT: Buy my cabled purse pattern here!
