Cabled clutch

March 22nd, 2005 — 11:04am

I made this little clutch over the weekend. It’s a knock off of the Margaret and Nicole clutch.

I’m pretty proud of how it turned out, it’s Eden sized, but I think I’ll try to make a larger one too.

My friend Brooke and I are leaving early, early tomorrow for Mesquite, Nevada. You may not hear from me until Monday unless our hotel has wireless internet access. The forecast calls for rain Wed, Thurs and Friday, so keep your fingers crossed for us, we’ve both got brand new swimming suits that we’re wanting to break in.

Also, the menu will be back next week too, but I’ll tell you that Jim’s got a wide assortment of frozen pizzas and meals at his disposal to eat while I’m gone.

Tofu and ponchos

February 9th, 2005 — 10:15am

Last night I made curried tofu with green beans. I wasn’t too thrilled with the combined taste of green beans, tomatoes, tofu and curry. But I do love me some tofu.

tofu

It was looking so yummy sitting on the plate that I had to take a picture.

But even better than tofu is that I’m almost done with my Frida poncho.

Frida poncho almost finished

You can see that the second panel is almost finished. Each panel will be 30 inches long, so I’ve only got a couple inches to go. Hopefully I will have a chance to finish it tonight. I’m hoping to have it finished in time for Friday night. We’re going to a benefit and silent aution at a dinner theater.

I found a pretty cool knitting blog today, I’m probably the only one in the world who hasn’t seen this site…
fluffa!

Ktog (knit together)

January 5th, 2005 — 3:34pm

I set up a new web program that will allow you to register and post pictures of your knitted projects.

All I have set up now is a place for the scarf swap spectacular. I’d love to see everybodies progress. I’ll be adding more categories as we go, Joelene and I are going to start on our Ribby Cardi’s soon. If anybody wants to do another knit along or as I call them, knit together, let me know.

It’s still not totally the way I’d like it, but go ahead and start using it and let me know if there are any problems. Mostly all I will change is the appearance.

Happy posting!!

Hug my Shrug

January 4th, 2005 — 9:48am

I finished my magknits shrug. The pattern had some mistakes, so email me if you are going to make it so I can tell you what they are. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like a shrug or not, especially since Jim thinks it’s dorky. (Trust me, if I went off of his fashion sense, who knows what I’d look like.) But I like it quite a bit. It’s really comfy, I just used a soft acrylic from Evil Walmart so it only cost me $6.00, and it knit up pretty fast.

My new favorite scarf

January 1st, 2005 — 5:08pm

My step mother in law gave me a gift certificate to the local yarn store for Christmas. I had planned to buy some double pointed needles with it, but I got there and fell in love with this yarn! Brooke was with me and we kind of fought over it. I won.

Here’s the scarf.

I’ve also improved my knitting page. Check it out and tell me what you think or if you find any bugs.

The first ever Pretending Sanity Scarf Swap Spectacular!

December 28th, 2004 — 4:45pm

I’ve been wanting to do this for awhile now and I figured the beginning of the year was a good time.
Presenting the first ever Pretending Sanity Scarf Swap Spectacular!

Here’s how it works:
Each person who wants to participate will make a set number of scarf “squares.” For example purposes, we’ll say 10 people sign up. Each person will make 10 squares. You will send those squares to me, along with a postage paid return envelope. Each scarf will have a square from each participating person, I will sew these together. I will then mail a scarf to each participant.

Squares can be knit, sewn, fabric, crochet, (fake)fur, ribbon, embroidered, screen printed, just about any media you want (as long as it’s comfy around the neck!).

Comment to this post if you want to sign up (be sure you include your real email address.) I will limit the number of participants so I won’t have to sew together tons of scarves! so sign up quick if you want to participate.

Once everybody is signed up, I’ll email you with the details, ie: the number of squares and size that you need to make and my address and the deadline date.

This is going to be fantastic!!!

email me if you have any questions.

Hats and double stockinette

December 16th, 2004 — 4:36pm

Here’s a little sample of the double stockinette, it’s the same on both sides. Quite fantastic if I do say so myself.
double stockinette swatch
Sorry for the poor pic quality.

And I’ve been churning out hats like a mad woman. The first two are the Hot Head pattern from Stitch n Bitch. The last is a variation of Kims Hats from Last Minute Knitted Gifts and the top of the hat.

Blue ribbed hat with a black stripe

Black ribbed hat with a green stripe

Green hat with a black stripe and ribbed cuff

Top of green hat with black stripe and ribbed cuff

Only two hats, one scarf and one poncho to go. Do you think I’ll make it?

Knitters, you’re going to kiss me!

December 15th, 2004 — 8:02am

Maybe I’m the only who didn’t know this, but I’m so excited to discover how to knit double sided stockinette with out using circular needles!

Here is the thread on Craftster and the tutorial. And the instructional video on diynet.

This is the best thing EVAR.
