Everyday Food
I’m writing this as Eden sings along to a Charmin Ultra commercial. I think her hour a day television allotment needs to be decreased.
Yesterday I made Empanadas, from Martha Stewart Everyday Food. Those of you who read my weekly menus know that I LOVE my Everyday Food magazine. There have been very few recipes from the magazine that I haven’t liked. Unfortunatly, Empanadas were one of them. To me they tasted like Sloppy Joe Pockets. I HATE, I LOATHE sloppy joes. I was very disappointed because I spent a lot of time on the Empanadas. Friday I made the filling and yesterday I finished them up by making the dough and filling them. I baked half of them and froze the other half (so I get the pleasure of eating sloppy joe pockets again!!!!) Oh well, I guess Martha can’t be perfect.
Now that we have Tivo, I’ve been recording cooking shows. I love cooking shows. Everyday Food just started doing a show on PBS. What could be more perfect than watching my favorite cooking magazine on TV? I’ve also been watching Barefoot Contessa. It’s a little cheesy, but I really like Ina Garten’s cookbooks and any cooking show is worth watching.

My favorite part of Ina Garten’s shows are when she leaves the mess for the night and comes back down in the morning to a perfectly clean kitchen. Yah, right, Ina.

This is a topic on which I could write a book. We’ve had pretty good success with MSEF but once in a while there is a clunker such as the Summer Squash with Bulgar and Feta. Blech! I take all her recipes with a grain of salt (haha) and adapt them adding more seasonings, making them vegetarian, correcting proportions etc. I also TiVO about a million cooking shows, its practically all I watch but I might email you my preferred list.

I had this great super funny comment all written out and poof it was gone. So I will try to reconstruct my greatness, but it might be lost now:)
Please tell me you LOVE Alton Brown too. Besides your dislike for 80’s music we have so very much in commom. If you don’t yet watch Good Eats you need to start that that show is FAB!
I love everyday food too, but I really don’t cook much and truthly I usually wait for you to cook new things first:) And Ina I want to be invited to one of her dinner parties!

My favorite shows on The Food Network are Home Cooking with Paula and Rachel Ray’s 30 Minute Meals. That Paula…omg she makes some gooooooood stuff.
I’m sorry both you and Eden are hurt. I hope you both start to feel better soon!
