Jim update

There’s not a whole lot to report, but I wanted to keep you all in the loop. I spoke with my uncle (the P.A.) last week and he didn’t think that the blood tests would find anything conclusive, he actually wondered why the doctor ordered them at all. Jim may still do them, but now he’s not in any hurry to spend another $120.

The numbness in the left side of his body is ever present, but it’s not really bothering him like it was – I think he’s just getting used to it. At times, when we go on a bike ride or he mows the lawn, basically whenever he moves a lot, both his legs are numb. He was also having muscle spasms in his lower back the other day after a lot of activity. I finally forced him to let me give him a massage, it temporarily made things worse. But all this leads me to believe that it’s (hopefully) a problem with his back. We’re going to try to get him into another Chiropractor as soon as possible. And I think he would really benefit from a professional massage.

Until then, I thank you all for your prayers and well wishes. We’re just taking this one step at a time and trusting God to take care of us. We will be OK.

you’re in my thoughts and just so you know, although not that i’m comparing this to what jim is going through, i have a really bad lower back (years of competitive gymnastics) and my legs go numb ALL THE TIME. sitting at my desk, watching a movie in the theatre, at times even for the 10 seconds i’m sitting down while i pee.

    Good Luck!!!

I never used to “believe in” chiropractors until I had to fight a custody battle with my ex and had horrible back problems, mostly from sleeping in terrible fetal positions, probably. Anyway, four visits to a chiropractor and they are GONE. Totally and completely gone. Try it.

After dating a spine surgeon – I am very anti chiropractor.. they scare me with some of the results I’ve seen..

I’ll be praying. I hate to buck the trend – but maybe go to a spine specialist first. If there is something undiagnosed with his back and a chiropractor doesn’t know it – that wouldn’t be good.. at all.

    Prayers and hugs.

i think these days drs do a lot of tests and prescribe a lot of things just to appease people, rather than telling them that it’s not going to find anything. know what i mean? my obgyn told me, ‘i went to school for XX years and have been practicing for YY more, and i can’t compete with somebody’s grandma!’ i’m NOT saying that you guys are being that way–just that drs let that affect their practice and how they deal with EVERY patient. anyways–i’m thinking about you guys and hope you find some sort of answer, or at least a way to alleviate the symptoms!

We are BIG fans of Chiropractic and after the way a spine surgeon almost paralyzed my dad (see Holli, it goes both way) I’m an even bigger fan. BUT, it sounds like it could possibly be a ruptured disk putting pressure on his nerves. That’s what was happening with my pop (and the only ref I have for numbness/back pain). Hope you get it all figured out soon!
