Hanukkah Crafts
The other night we did a little craft with the kids. We made snowflakes and then glittered them. Yeah, I know what you’re thinking, we gave Honor scissors…. we’re crazy. Actually the only mishap was my fault, I was trying to open the glitter and managed to spill all of it onto the floor. My house will never be the same. Honor took one look at the mess and said… “Oh, mommy’s in big trouble!” It makes me feel bad that he thinks he gets in trouble for making messes. He gets in trouble for playing with the toothpaste in the first place! I guess he’ll figure it out as time goes by (hopefully.)
Last night we made ginger bread houses. I refuse to show you what they look like. I was so sure that mine would end up being better than Jim’s but alas… Really, I blame Martha. I know, usually I’m all praise for Martha, but when it comes to Jim’s gingerbread house being better than mine, I’ve gotta give her the blame.
One thing I know, I’m crafted out for awhile. It’s exhausting trying to keep destruct-o-con contained when there’s a bowl of frosting sitting right in front of him.

Ha! I’ll show you my sad gingerbread house if you show me yours. My three year old was real close by me as I was setting it up so she could catch all the frosting drips I made. She ate 1/3 of the candy before I could stop her and I kept having to tell her to quit licking everything. I think kiddie crafts is one of the funnest perks of being a mommy.

Ta! Da! You guys deserve trophies! You actually made gingerbread houses instead of just intending to! One of the running jokes during my MOPS years, many moons ago, was how many of us had the plans, the kits, or the ingredients and never got around to it! This 20 something generation is the best! You face the most formidible of challenges – THE MESS – and go on grinning and smiling!

Destruct-o-con!! That is to funny!!! How much trouble were you in?!?!? Yes, he will figure it out as time goes by.
I made a ginger bread house last year and ended up sitting on the kitchen floor crying AND blamed Martha for making it look so easy! She sets people up for falure!! Dang her!! ;) My roof kept caving in and the candy would drip off of the frosting. Did yours? ;) What are you doing for the last day of Hannukah?

Hey-at least your house will be all sparkly-if it’s never to be the same again…

I love the batman photo. And btw, it’s the effort that counts, and the family time, not the end result. Repeat often as you look at the gingerbread house!
