I need your help!
Please tell me about any stores you love (online or a physical location) that sells either handmade goods or something like a mom and pop bookstore. It can be anywhere in the world.
I’m helping a friend do some research for a book she has coming out in the fall.
THANKS!

Two years ago my mother suggested we buy our family Christmas gifts from one of these sites:
http://www.thehungersite.com
http://www.thebreastcancersite.com
http://www.thechildhealthsite.com
http://www.theliteracysite.com
http://www.therainforestsite.com
http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com
All six of these organizations share a huge catalog of items (including homespun yarn in the World Artisan section!) You get to pick which one of them gets the proceeds from your purchase. We loved the idea of giving a gift that gave twice and, let me tell you, the recycled silk yarn I got that year… was gorgeous!
I could give you so many other resources… homemade soaps, stained glass panels, pottery, family restaurants, etcetera, but I won’t flood you unnecessarily. Let me know if you want more; I’ll be happy to provide!

there is a bookstore in Denver called the Tattered Cover- I went there once for a book signing and wished I could spend the rest of my life there.
