product review: American Greetings

Awhile back, American Greetings sent me a sample pack of their spring line of greeting cards to review. I was given a variety of Mothers Day cards, Birthday cards and just because cards.

Overall, I liked the cards, although I found a few of them to be a little too sappy for me. The graphics were modern and clean and there were also cards of varying sizes. (I always go for the odd sized cards.) My favorite card was one that says “You get me” on the front and in the inside it says, “…and it’s good to be gotten.”

I will/have used most of the cards. But my biggest complaint with these and all card companies is that during mothers/fathers days it’s difficult to find cards for parents who, say, aren’t your very best friends. There are a few people in our lives that we’d like to honor on their respective days, but don’t want to lie and say, “You’re the GREATEST parent ever!!!”. Something with a simple, “Happy Mothers/Fathers Day” would be great.

I know what ya mean… you know what I used to do ( I think this is now called plagiarism) but I’d find a card that I liked in the store, and go home and make my own, while tweaking it just a bit so it fit my needs. (Maybe that’s not plagiarism, you only have to change one note, right?) But anyways…

Oh yeah, and now…now it’s just easier and less time consuming to buy the suckers…
BTW…how did you get them to send you a package to review?

Yeah. This year I just went with cards that were blank on the inside and had an appropriate picture – wrote my own message.

Yeah, I agree about the mother’s/father’s day cards. They are always sappy and we just don’t do that in our family.

Enstrom’s out here in Fruita has some great cards that are pretty simple, not too sappy and under 3 bucks a card. What more could a girl ask for?

Ha, Go Knit in Your Hat is having a contest centered around “appropriate” cards–http://goknitinyourhat.blogspot.com/2007/06/blog-contest.html

The possibilities are very amusing. :)

Boy, do I hear you!!!!!!!! One doesn’t always have time to compose truthful prose (ie: I love your work ethic, but some of the things you did screwed me up…[leaving out the bit after the coma :)]
