changes that should have taken place long ago
I wanna watch TV.
No, we’re going to get rid of TV.
No! Please? I really like TV. It’s the only thing I like to do!
Sorry, TV isn’t good for us. We don’t need to watch it.
But TV shows us stuff that we want to buy.

It’s time to blow up our life. We’ve been far too complacent and self absorbed for far to long. I don’t know exactly what that means for all of us, but we will all be changing our lives together. Getting rid of cable is just one of the first small steps. Getting rid of the “stuff” that we just think we have to have is the next.
I’m excited.

Woohoo! Good for you! We have a TV, but no channels. We only watch movies on it. Our “addiction” is the internet, which isn’t much better, but at least it’s easier to ignore the ads! Let us know how the TV-lessness and suff-lessness goes.

Yes please! Let us know how you guys do. My parents took away our TV when my brother and I were 12 and we didn’t have one again until we moved out on our own. It was amazing and I am so glad they made that decision. I now have a family of my own and I would love to chuck the TV in the nearest dump. It would be so much easier going cold turkey! It is such an easy crutch to fall back on when you are bored or tired. Many blessings on your adventure!

We haven’t had a TV since my son was a year and a half old. We watch videos sometimes on our big screen Apple computer, but it’s very easy to keep their TV time to an hour to an hour and a half a day–and no commercials! Peter and I get movies from Netflix so we can watch what we want (Andy Griffith, anyone?) if we feel like unwinding with a little television. We are so much happier than when we were bombarded with media messages about things we don’t really need. And the kids don’t even know about what they’re missing!

I’m going through this same struggle right now as well. Don’t want to give up my DVR and shows and all that good stuff… and yet… sigh. Yeah. Looking forward to seeing how it goes for you!

Wow! Impressive, and I think a great idea. We really should too. Wrestling with the same demons I guess.
